LBBW’s strategic profile

In its strategic orientation, LBBW concentrates on the customer-oriented core business with growth prospects, particularly on business with corporate and retail customers as well as savings banks. This is accompanied by efficient real estate financing and capital market products, also for institutional customers.

The aim of LBBW is to consolidate its position as a partner of SMEs in the regional core markets of its retail banks by deploying its market knowledge and enhancing its customer proximity and thereby also to secure the future provision of lending to the economy. To this end LBBW continues to see itself as a principal bank in the best sense of the word.

LBBW’s strategy is based on five pillars: Corporate Clients, Retail Clients, Savings Banks, Financial Markets und Real Estate Financing.

In the Corporate Clients pillar, LBBW focuses on SMEs and public-sector clients as well as selected key accounts in German-speaking countries. The key accent is and remains the provision of needs-oriented support and advice geared towards lasting customer relations. This is in line with LBBW’s experience that a lasting partnership between the Bank and the customer pays off for both sides in the long run as evidenced in many cases by customer relationships which have lasted for decades.

LBBW also has two key accents in the Retail Clients pillar. On the one hand the Bank concentrates on business with high net worth private customers. In the areas of Private Banking und Wealth Management, the focus is on gaining new clients, increasing the intensity of support and enhancing the product range. On the other hand, the second key focus of LBBW is the classical retail business. Within the City of Stuttgart , BW Bank assumes the role of a savings bank on behalf of LBBW and offers its customers the full range of banking and financial services.

In the Savings Bank pillar, LBBW acts as the central bank to savings banks in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony . The cooperation with savings banks is a central element in the LBBW business model. For this reason the Bank aims to expand further its partnerships with savings banks.

The Financial Markets pillar is aligned to service and advice for institutional clients, savings banks and corporate clients and therefore concentrates on the customer-induced business.

The Real Estate Financing pillar contains a broad range of financing structures and supplementary products and services for real estate companies as well as private and institutional investors in clearly defined core markets.

In addition, management of the credit substitute business at LBBW, the former Sachsen LB and the former Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz is bundled within the Credit Investment Portfolio (CIP). The portfolio will be gradually reduced over the next few years.
